About Me:

I’m Adam Carney, an entrepreneur, philosopher, and designer dedicated to helping people integrate important ideas across disciplines to live deeply fulfilled lives. My journey has always been about bridging gaps between ancient ideas and modern life, ethics and economics, entrepreneurship and holistic wellbeing.

I grew up in Chicago, where at nineteen, I left college to study with a Tibetan Buddhist monk from the Karma Kagyu lineage in Hawaii. Immersed in meditation and philosophy, I developed a deep appreciation for spiritual practice, daily discipline, and the power of simple ethical principles.

In my early 20s, I worked at a high-tech venture fund in Santa Monica. There, I was mentored in the art and science of building startups from some of the most intelligent people on earth. I learned firsthand how powerful entrepreneurship can be, not just as a means of creating wealth, but as a force capable of meaningful societal transformation.

In 2017, driven by a desire to combine entrepreneurship with my interest in spiritual practice, I founded East+West, which quickly became one of the largest yoga teacher training companies in the world. Living in Bali from 2017 to 2020, I guided thousands of people in their own journeys of self-discovery, leadership, and transformation through yoga, meditation, and Eastern philosophies.

Returning to the United States in 2020 was challenging; the integration of my Eastern-focused mindset with Western realities sparked a new phase of growth. I realized that the most important work ahead of me involved bridging these worlds. In 2022, I co-founded the Integrative Psychology Institute, becoming one of the youngest founders of a university in U.S. history.

My core philosophy is "healthy creation," creating businesses and lifestyles that uplift all involved — creator, partners, and receivers, simultaneously. I believe deeply in purposeful, meaningful work as a pillar of genuine happiness. Drawing inspiration from diverse fields like economics, psychology, Ayurveda, and classical Greek philosophy, I strive to make important teachings about ethics, health, and happiness practical and accessible.

Today, my mission is to inspire individuals to think more deeply, integrate knowledge thoughtfully and build a positive vision for the future. I aim to foster optimism grounded in reality, encourage gratitude, and challenge conventional thinking.
